New Years Resolution

I usually try to have a few new years resolutions each year to have a few goals to accomplish. Last year I decided to have about 3 goals. Not too many but enough to keep me focused. I think I’m going to stick with that number this year.

I feel like I accomplished all 3 of my goals from last year which fulfilling, Let’s see what this next year brings.

  1. Eating less sugar – If you haven’t watched the documentary “Fed Up” yet, I’d highly recommend it. It’s insightful to see how the american diet has a TON of sugar in it. I believe I can stay healthy if I limit my sugar intake and I hope to put a stop to diabetes in my family.
  2. Learn a server-side javascript language – This goal is currently a little far fetched for me. I seem to know jQuery pretty well but I’d really like to start to learn how node.js works and figure out how to apply that into my work flow more. Whether it’s actually learning the framework or just understanding what it does, I just want to learn more about it.
  3. Save for a new car – Both Beth and I have been driving our cars for about 10 years now and it’s come time to start thinking about a new one. I’d like to get something both techy and environmentally friendly. If at all possible I’d also like to not have another monthly payment. We will see how this one pans out.

Tied-up 2014… 2015, bring it. :)

Charity Water

Ever since moving to California I’ve been reminded numerous times about how we are in a drought. The news about the drought has been everywhere, on the local T.V. news stations, radio stations and newspapers. Outlets are promoting to save water usage non-stop. Here in the Sacramento area we are required to cut back 20% of our water usage. If caught wasting water, you could be presented up to a $500 fine.

While ALS is a terrible disease and all of the support from the latest “ice bucket challenge” has been amazing, I can’t help but think about how much water is being wasted. There are a lot of countries who don’t have clean water like we do here in America. I feel both causes are very important and I’d like to encourage everyone to check out an awesome non-profit called Charity Water.

This last Christmas has been crazy! We sold our house, hung out with both sides of the family, and moved to California.

My parents have been very gracious and replaced my old iPad with a iPad mini. I’m super humbled and grateful. This will help with my business and be great to enjoy around the house. It is my new “go-to” devices for traveling. :)

Thanks so much guys!
